Have you ever gotten your hair done and made a relatively large (well for you, anyway) change and you come home and your husband/boyfriend/mom/etc. thinks it looks kind of the same? I cut 4 inches (4 inches in long girl hair world might as well be a pixie cut) off my hair this weekend and I felt like this whole new person. When I got home my sweet/amazing/loving husband said “it looks nice”, not a bad reaction at all… but not exactly the reaction I had anticipated considering I thought I made such a huge change!
Then again, this is coming from the girl who’s scared of scissors and has been getting her haircut the same way for the last 10 years. Anyway, it was time for a change, even if it was a subtle one. I think this was my favorite haircut since I got a short bob when I was like, 12.
This mint tulle skirt has been sitting in my closet since last summer untouched because there was still some baby weight hanging around and the fit wasn’t quite right. So imagine my excitement to wear it for this spring now that it fits! I love a tulle skirt, but at the risk of looking like an adult child chose to keep accessories and the rest of the outfit pretty simple and toned down – going with classic basics like a white blouse, nude pumps, and a trench coat. I had this mint envelope clutch that happened to be a great match, but a nude bag (like this) would also look great with this color.
Doesn’t this mint color get you excited for spring? I wore this outfit this past Sunday for brunch (note to self, take pictures BEFORE eating brunch) and will probably wear this skirt again, but styled differently for Easter. That’s what’s so important about buying basic pieces (and what I have been making an effort to do). Having good wardrobe staples gives you the opportunity to incorporate pieces like a fun tulle skirt that can be worn different ways.
The colors in this look reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw when she wore this outfit on SATC. I don’t know if it’s just me, but did you love that show when it was out, but cringe whenever you see it syndication? Although, I still appreciate a lot of the fashion from the show and think looks like these are super relevant right now.
