This year I definitely took a no fuss approach to decorating for fall in my home. Being 34 weeks pregnant right now, just the thought of decorating for fall, then having a new baby, then having to do Christmas all within a few weeks of each other was just downright overwhelming. I definitely do a bit more fall decorating outside on our porch with mums and pumpkins than I typically do inside anyway, and I think a less is more approach actually has a great effect for fall! Bringing in natural inspired elements with intention to highlight certain areas makes all the difference and really makes the home extra cozy for the season!
Keep it simple, adding a few key decorations is all you’ll need to make your home feel ready for the season. Here are my go-to ways to add a touch of fall to any home:
- Display fall leaves in a large vase. I used 2 leaf sprays I picked up at Pottery Barn. I haven’t found the exact ones I used online, but did find some similar versions that would work well! Even better, you can even recreate this look if you have a tree to cut branches from outside!
- Rearrange your pillows and consider adding a deeper or richer color to your existing bunch (I added this plum colored one). Trying a new arrangement with 1 or 2 new pillows can make a big change with a small investment!
- Anchor small seasonal items in a tray to create a centerpiece. I grouped a velvet pumpkin, fall candle (this is the one I have and I highly recommend it!) and faux apple branch on a gold tray I had on hand. It’s the perfect setup for a coffee table.
- Bring out the faux fur! This throw is my absolute favorite and looks amazing when it’s draped over the sofa and adds instant coziness, plus it’s huge and is perfect for cold movie nights. PLUS it’s currently on sale and comes in 7 different colors. While you’re at it, if you don’t have a blanket basket now is a great time to get one! I have these birch branches in my blanket basket for even more of a fall touch.
- Mix real with faux pumpkins. After I bought a set of 3 velvet pumpkins this year. I realized they were missing something. I ended up finding some really pretty colored small pumpkins at the Terrain garden center and brought them home with me. They were the perfect touch to add around the room along with the velvet pumpkins. And don’t worry about having to have all faux or all real pumpkins, because they work very nicely mixed together! Same goes for mixing colors and finishes of pumpkins!
