“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” Audrey Hepburn-
I’m not a master gardener, in fact, this is my first garden. This is also the first year that it’s actually started to look like something (hence the quote at the beginning of this post). So, that means it took 3 whole years of working toward something that has finally yielded some results. My goals have always been to create a cottage garden, full of fluffy and pretty perennials with some annuals scattered in to fill blank space. It’s still nowhere near some of the beautiful gardens I’ve seen pictures of, but it’s come a long way.
I took some photos of what’s blooming right now. If you’ve ever tried your hand at a perennial garden, there is some thought and planning that needs to go into it. For optimal results, you’ll have plants that bloom at different time periods from spring through fall, this way you will always have interest in your garden.
One of the best feelings I get is seeing my flowers blooming. There is something therapeutic about it. I’ve listed some great flowers if you’re interested in starting a cottage garden of your own!

Cottage Garden Guide (Summer Blooming):
note: dahlia’s (unless digging out tubers) and purple fountain grass are annuals in most zones
More of my favorite flowers for a cottage garden not listed in this image, but pictured in post: lavender, hydrangea, rozanne geranium
And for spring blooming: tulips, daffodils, creeping phlox, peonies (you must have peonies) and lilies

What a beautiful garden you have Zoe! It took me back to the movie call The Secret Garden. I honestly wish I had this kind of talent when it comes to gardening. I heard it is the best therapy. Sadly I kill a lot of my plants hehehehe. I only have those in my house that I know I can’t kill.

Such a lovely garden! My favourite flowers (at least this year!) are dahlias. When we have somewhere with a yard, I definitely want to plant some. What are the flowers in the first picture?? They are darling!

Thank you! I love dahlia’s too, I was actually wishing I had a few more in my garden! The very first photo in this post is of “Rose Bonica”. I absolutely love that plant.
