All month, I’ve had the intentions of trying out a cranberry infused Moscow Mule for Christmas. This is my hubby and I’s favorite drink, and I’ve never made a flavored mule before, so naturally couldn’t wait to give it a try. Typically, we don’t drink juice in our house, but I knew I had some cranberry juice stashed in our bar. When getting the ingredients, I realized my cranberry juice expired in 2013 (had it really been that long ago since I bought that?) so I was left wondering how I was going to make the drink.
Since I had fresh cranberries, I knew I could cook them down, and a quick google search yielded plenty of ways to make a simple syrup. I altered the recipe based on my own taste and size I needed and think this simple syrup tastes perfect. If you have cranberry juice and want to skip this step, it would still be great! (and a time saver).
You can use vodka or gin for a Moscow mule, even though this drink was created to use vodka. Since we had gin on hand, that was the clear winner of the day. Did you know gin is just an alcohol derived from neutral spirits (such as vodka) that is predominantly flavored with juniper berries? It’s amazing what the internet can teach you. You can get your own gin making kit here. And if you aren’t sold on getting your own copper mugs yet, read this.

Love moscow mules!! Ive never tried one with cranberry, might make this for my Christmas party! 🙂 I am also intrigued by that ginger beer.. I’ve tried lots and never like any as much as MaineRoot (non alcoholic) Ginger beer. Its got the best ginger/spicy kick thus far, imo!
