When one finds themselves at a dahlia flower show, ask nicely if there are any extra flowers you can purchase. You just might have some very nice (and talented) gardeners gift you with gorgeous treasures from their gardens.
I noticed that there was going to be a Dahlia show by the Greater Pittsburgh Dahlia Society at Trax, one of our local Farms this past weekend. This was a great excuse to go pick up some apple cider and check out the mums, (which I had no intention of buying yet, since I’m nowhere near ready to decorate for fall). I was hoping to see some giant bloom’s and sure enough, they were there, along with some of the most perfectly shaped flowers I’ve ever seen. I signed up to the Dahlia Society’s email list, so I’ll be notified when they are auctioning extra tubers from their gardens. One lady I spoke with said she and her husband have roughly 200 dahlia plants on their property!
This weekend really began to feel like a transitional time, not summer anymore, but not quite fall… everything from gardening to fashion to weather was starting to shift. It gives me an almost unsettled in-between feeling. Regardless, I got my first pumpkin spice latte of the season, dressed in layers (oh, how I’ve missed layers) and enjoyed the mix of end of summer/not quite fall happenings. Wishful thinking has me hoping that we won’t get too cold too fast in the next few weeks and months. It seems our in-between seasons don’t last nearly long enough (I’m talking about you spring and fall!).
If you’re looking for some light layer inspiration, you can shop these similar kimono’s, lightweight scarfs, and these exact fringe ankle boots like in this post!

Zoe, what beautiful photos! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dahlia’s that large before! Stunning!! I also love your outfit, I’m not sure why, but I’d not thought to wear a kimono over long sleeves until I spotted your picture on Instagram…I’ll definitely be trying out this look this fall! Niki
