In the beginning food stages with my son, I remember trying my best to make *everything* from scratch. As time went on and we needed to experience new flavors and textures, I found myself wasting so many ingredients on foods he didn’t like (you may remember my son is a very picky eater from this post). I stopped beating myself up about it and began to turn to more pre-made baby food because let’s face it, I was wasting a lot of perfectly good food that was getting rejected on a regular basis. That sort of thing is draining and frustrating all at the same time. These packs were lifesavers since I could test out so many different flavor combos without wasting a lot of food if he didn’t like something. This also gave me a better gage of what he was liking and then I could better decide what to make for him myself.
With companies like Sprout specializing in making organic, non-gmo, gluten free and nutrient dense plant based food for our little ones, I feel like I want to tell mom’s who’ve felt like I did: “Look, it’s ok if you aren’t making everything from scratch!”. And honestly, who can argue against the convenience of being able to carry these around for an on the go and healthy snack option??
Now that we are in the toddler/pre-school age, we are past the stage of going through Power Paks daily, however we still go through cans of Curlz every week! Crunchy snacks are always a hit with us and I love that Sprout has developed these organic and plant based recipes. It makes me feel so much better that I can offer a convenient snack loaded with plant based ingredients that’s full of the good stuff like protein and fiber. When a kid knows they like something you’re sure to find yourself buying in multiples every time you visit the grocery store. Luckily Sprout has lots of great coupons (you can find them here) that you can use when grabbing your favorite baby and toddler snacks!
And with ingredients like organic chickpea and lentil flour, my son can shovel them into his mouth without me feeling like he is eating junk. We’re all set over here with our yummy snacks to watch our favorite basketball team tonight! Well, someone will probably be in bed before the end… What do you guys think, Cavs in 7??
