When I wore this outfit to dinner my intentions were to pay attention if there’d be any weird looks from strangers for my outfit choice, but I accidently had one too many mojitos to really pay attention. And it’s not that I’d typically care anyway, but it was meant to be more of a social experiment. What made me think of this was recently another blogger I follow on instagram was told that crop tops shouldn’t be worn once you’re past a certain age. So two things happened. One, I thought, how incredibly rude for someone to say this. And two, it made me question my own choices. I had literally just packed an outfit to wear that looks like that and I’m a mom sooo, should I not wear that?? Here’s my takeaway: When you become a mom, please don’t stop wearing fun clothes.
A healthy body image is so important and knowing the right ways to wear a trend are key. The misconception with a crop top is that you have to have a totally flat belly to pull it off. Well I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t have a perfectly flat stomach and love this look. Showing off a sliver of belly is so sexy but still totally appropriate and if done right, crop tops can be worn from casual to formal affairs. High waist trousers and pencil skirts look amazing with a boxy crop top, while a high waist paper bag short look great with a crop top that fits a little tighter.
So can mom’s wear crop tops? Of course! And please don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I wore this outfit below on a recent trip to Florida. These are my favorite high waist shorts this season (still available in a couple sizes!) and I grabbed this gingham top on sale right before we left. This look was a fun, pattern mixed outfit for a casual family dinner out. What do you think of wearing crop tops as moms, or just as we get older in general?

Thank you for this post! Although, I am not a mother yet, but would love to be, I am 36 years old. Even though I may not look my age, it is reality that I am not that young anymore. This summer I have actually put back some items or was hesitant on buying a few of them because I am the age that I am. I tried them on and loved them, but was unsure if people would stare or talk about me because of my age.
I did end up purchasing a few of these hot fashion trends and after reading your post, I do feel a little bit more confident and feel like I can go out and show off my hot new outfits! Your outfit is adorable by the way! You look gorgeous!
