A robot to help me with cleaning? It sounds too good to be true, right? For a while, that’s exactly what I thought. Something along the lines of: “Would I ever actually use it? Would it actually work??” But *thankfully* for my sanity, the ECOVACS DEEBOT OZMO 950 2-in-1 vacuuming and mopping robot (yes, vacuum AND mopping) proved me wrong! Overall, I’m getting less frustrated by daily dust and crumbs on the floors as I don’t have to physically keep up with it. And I’m finding myself catching up on other work or chores in the times it’s running. And although we had a few hiccups, (mostly because my almost 1 year is terrified of this machine) I eventually figured out a schedule that works for us.
Here are my main takeaways after using it for about 2 weeks:
- It cleans crumbs and debris that are small and large. I left out our usual spilled cheerios to see how well it would suction them and it would get everything in one sweep. There are 3 total levels of suctioning on the robot which I attribute to this efficiency.
- It’s a lot quieter than a typical vacuum, and this makes it great to have cleaning when the baby is napping or when he goes to sleep at night. This is a big problem solver for me because a lot of times I’d want to vacuum during babies sleep times but wouldn’t in fear of waking him. Now I can switch it on during naps or bedtime and get other things done. This also solves the problem of him being afraid of it. We just run it when we aren’t home or he is asleep.
- In the evening when we run it, it’s quiet enough that we can watch a tv show and can still hear the tv perfectly fine.
- It cleans our main living areas in about 1 hour (this is without the bedrooms), but it can run for another 2 hours total. So essentially I could clean the whole home with it on one charge.
- I love that I can see the areas it’s cleaned on the app and the map that it creates with the smart navi technology. I was honestly intimidated to set this up, but to my surprise I didn’t actually have to do anything. More of a ‘charge it-then turn it on’ situation.
- It cleans under the sofa which to be honest I seldom do. It also retrieves lots of lost toys from under there, and since this is the thinnest design Ecovacs has yet, it does not get stuck!
- **Quick Tip: Pick up any small cords (think, phone chargers) that may get tangled off the floor. Same goes for small toys, fabric, or other items that could get stuck. I try to do a quick pick up of the areas that I intent to have cleaned and close the doors for areas that I haven’t picked up.
- **Important Note: Make sure to set your charging dock on as flat a surface as possible. We have ours on hardwood which is ideal. This helps it find its way back to the charger to redock correctly and the map it creates with the navigation will stay in tact.
While I won’t be saying goodbye to my traditional vacuum, this drastically will cut down the amount I need to use it. I haven’t even tested out all the available capabilities yet and am still happy with the performance, next up I’m planning on using it with our Alexa! The best part is that I feel caught up on cleaning and there is less daily mess with the floors. Getting the time to focus on something else knowing my floors are being cleaned is a big deal when every free minute of your day counts!
This is a really great product for someone who wants their floors to be clean everyday, and I fall into that category. I feel so much more productive and happier when things are clean and this affords me the time to keep things that way throughout the week. All in all, I think the ECOVACS DEEBOT OZMO 950 has set out to solve problems that consumers had with previous robotic vacuums and has done a good job at doing just that.
