Mother’s Day is right around the corner and if you are in need of some ideas, I got you covered! I personally enjoy a traditional route, like flowers and a really good brunch— bonus if you throw in a nice bottle of wine and a thoughtful gift. There are a couple different ways to go about this so I am breaking down where to get the best flowers, what to do and what to buy for the mom’s in your life!
FLOWERS
My tips for buying flowers if you didn’t order from a florist on time: Hit up Costco for their roses or Trader Joes for their awesome variety. These really are the best bang for your buck, so buy extra! Just be aware that you’ll have to beat the rush by going the day before or early on Sunday because they will get picked over!
If you want to flex your creative muscles, order floral from Fifty Flowers. I tend to purchase from here even though I have a wholesale license because while sometimes I am in a pinch and the convenience is unmatched, the floral is always top notch. The ordering is so easy and I love the delivery vs. having to pick up orders. I just put in an order of flowers for our baptism coming up and have ordered multiple times in the past for personal events. They still have some packs that will ship on time for mother’s day, (I would go with the wholesale garden roses and the California wildflowers for some stellar bouquets) but for times you order early enough, they have a very wide selection of flowers that you could typically only get via florists.
TIME
AHHHH time, it’s a funny thing really, how much little time you feel like you have for yourself once you have kids. I think this is a given particularly when you have small children, but whenever you can have uninterrupted time by yourself to recharge your batteries is beneficial to everyone.
Surprise mom with a cleared schedule and send her off on her way to get some ‘me time’ and a little pampering! My husband knows if I can get a service at a nice spa that that is probably one of the best things to give me! Or even just the chance to go get my nails done WITHOUT feeling like I need to rush home is always welcome.
CLEANING
Clean the house in some way, whether it’s to do the dishes, the laundry, mop the floors- And I’m not talking about loading the dishwasher and not washing them, starting laundry and not taking it out of the drier. Rather, find a task and follow through with it all the way to completion. If you do this without asking for head pats or complaining, YOU’ll WIN MOTHERS DAY. I don’t think I ever appreciated how much my mom did around the house until I became a mom myself.
Also, while I appreciate the idea of my husband making me brunch, a mess in the kitchen accomplishes the exact opposite of what it would set out to achieve. SO, if you happen to like to cook and are going to make your mom or wife some sort of yummy spread, make sure everything is cleaned up and put away after!
GIFTS
If you want to do one major splurge item for your wife or lucky mama, go big with a bag she has had her eye on, (AHEM, *hello* Saint Laurent Loulou bag) or really surprise her with a weekend getaway somewhere beautiful (we love going to Nemacolin! They have an amazing Sunday brunch and fantastic spa).
Other gift items that have been winners in my experience: dyson hair dryer, stylish gardening tools, quality candles, a nice pair of pajamas, house plants or trees, a really cute and on trend Mom T-shirt- I know I would totally rock one!
Dyson Hair Tools (A splurge, but she will love it!):
