Have you ever had a trip coming up where you are literally checking the weather forecast constantly when it’s time to start packing? Maybe this is just the case because I’m hoping the forecast is going to improve, in my defense it has been flip flopping from day to day. Packing gets challenging when you’re looking at a bunch of different weather scenarios within a short span of time. Right now we are looking at some cold, some rain, then a little warm and sunny. We are headed to the mountains in Virginia and wanted to get in as many outdoor activities as possible. I finally caved and got my first pair of Hunter boots since we definitely want to be outside rain or shine. I got Doni a set too and he loves wearing them!
There were a couple sales over Easter and I ended up getting a few items that I had had my eye on for spring/summer. The poplin dress from the photo is one of them and might be one of my new favorite dresses, and the yellow gingham dress is ridiculously cute on and perfect for warm days. The Simple Seam was kind enough to send me a couple items to try out and I have to say this chambray shirtdress is so soft and lightweight. It was literally the piece that I didn’t know I needed in my closet and is so versatile (that cute pink bandana is form there too).
There is an indoor pool (outdoor too, but ya know ::weather::) at the resort we are headed to and I love this J.Crew Factory swimsuit (I have it in pink from last year), but love new prints that just came out. They offer good coverage and with the ruching are super flattering on, plus you can’t beat the price. I also just got these big bow slippers in pink and they are so adorable and comfortable, pretty sure I’m going to live in them this summer! As for the rainy days, I thought it was a good time to invest in a decent travel umbrella and when I saw this floral print one, I had to have it! It actually made me feel a teensy bit better about the rain, ha. I am packing an oversized cardigan to stay warm when it gets a little chilly and a few hiking essentials (this bug balm is the best!) along with a couple dresses and shoes for a nice dinner or two.
