Who doesn’t love a good glass of champagne? Last New Year’s Eve we made these cocktails to kick up our toast and they definitely had an extra kick to them. Plus, I loved all the extra bubbles the sugar cubes created. I think if you have a really nice bottle of champagne, like a Moet, I’d skip this and drink as is. But if you are using a sparkling wine and want to experiment, this is a great use for it.
I used this affordable brut sparkling wine that happens to be my favorite for mimosas. It also works great for this cocktail since the brut is dry with just a hint of sweetness. Also, if you are looking for affordable and modern champagne flutes, I love these cylinder flutes from CB2. I’ve used them for mimosa bars and cocktails, as well as the go to small vase in my home. Hope you all have a safe and happy New Year! Here’s to 2016.
