Today is the first day of the Nordstrom anniversary sale, so this means if you are a cardholder you can start shopping right now. If you’re not, you can still look at everything but can’t actually purchase until the 20th. I know some people don’t like all the blogger coverage of this sale (I mean, yea, it’s a lot) BUT, the one thing I’ve come to realize and appreciate over the years of blogging are the options we have to see clothing on DIFFERENT body types. For instance, I’m 5’2″ and have lots of curves at the moment- so someone may relate to that more than another person who is tall and skinny. And if you aren’t interested in the sale (which is totally understandable) just skip it- Personally, I am all about a good deal and I tend to snag some great fall items every year, so here we go!
For my dressing room try-ons I pulled clothes similarly to how I’d pull for an in-store fashion show but with my current body type in mind. I mixed and matched pieces so it had more of a wardrobe element to it to show functionality and multiple uses for clothing. I’m all about versatility with clothing and there were lots and lots of good options!
I think having a bump makes me really appreciate a good body con dress! They really are my favorite base piece of clothing to have right now and the great thing is they can be worn from now until the fall (and even into winter with the right layering). In store (I was at the Ross Park Mall location) I tried on a couple non-maternity versions but online there were even more options in maternity + non-maternity.
Mural Blazer Midi Coat (only $84.90) | Leith Sleek Knit Midi Dress (comes in a grey/lilac color, too) | Leith Henley Woven Shirt | Vince Camuto Movinta Bootie (love the slightly western vibe of these and the heel style)
Absolutely in love with this coat. Was not coat that I intended to try on or buy but ended up being my favorite. I initially wanted an oversized camel colored one which is a great option too (was not in store, only online)- BUT this print really adds a lot to these basic pieces and is so good in person.
This is a tank style midi dress with a lower neckline then I typically wear, it’s a dressier material so great for work/business meetings/church/dressed up date night. I love this style dress because it doubles as a pencil skit, I knotted this woven top (fyi this is my favorite top of the sale, especially for a bump) over it for a covered up/layered look and it wold look so cute with a cropped sweater, too.
Madewell Oversized Denim Jacket (my favorite/most worn piece!) | Socialite Tie Waist T-Shirt Dress | Steve Madden Trace Studded Mules (come in 4 additional options)
I probably wear this denim jacket TOO much. I got mine a few months back and it’s by far my most worn item that just happens to be part of the sale this year. It’s so flattering because it covers your bum and looks great with the sleeves rolled. If you need a denim jacket, THIS IS IT.
I loved this little t-shirt dress and its only $31.90. I sized up when I tried on but honestly could go with my regular size, and these flats come in one of my favorite colors (I love yellow shoes!) and this mustard tone is a flattering option to elongate your legs while adding some color to your look.
Caslon Utility Jacket (wearing camo, comes in green too) | Leith Henley Woven Top | Ingrid & Isabel Ponte Knit Skinny Maternity Pants (not part of sale, but so worth it- I promise!) | Steve Madden Petra Open Side Bootie (comes in taupe and white snakeskin, too)
I actually got this camo jacket because I was wearing my Madewell jacket so much, I was looking for something similar so I could switch it up sometimes!
I’ve been wanting to share these maternity pants for a while now because they are so good. These were honestly a splurge for me as far as maternity clothes go BUT I love a good ponte pant and for the amount I wear them, it’s very worth it. Also, the design of the back of the waist keeps them from falling down!
Leith Mélange Wrap Dress (sized up and wearing color red grape, comes in 3 additional colors) | Halogen Double Breasted Trench Coat in Blush | Lewit Marta Slingback Pump (comes in lilac and black, too)
Back to the body con dresses, here is a faux wrap styled one I had my eye on. They had this color in store and I loved how it looked with all the blush colored fall pieces along with the white slingbacks. I actually have a very similar pair of white pumps like these from ASOS last season, but they were pretty cheap (I think under $40?) and have gotten pretty torn up (I managed to trip and fall down in them on my husbands business trip, go me). I’m debating getting these to replace them. Not to mention these are better quality and the heel height is ideal. Wearing the dress with this lightweight blush trench coat which is a perfect transitional piece for fall and great for spring too.
Leith Mélange Wrap Dress | Madewell Ryder Cardigan (wearing color ‘heather blossom’, comes in 3 additional colors) | Vince Camuto Movinta Bootie
Here is the same dress but with more casual pieces for fall. There are always so many great sweater options available, this is a simple Madewell one with lots of good reviews and the same booties from earlier.
Leith Henley Woven Top | BP Oversized Waffle Stitch Cardigan | Ingrid & Isabel Ponte Knit Skinny Maternity Pants | Steve Madden Petra Open Side Booties
This cardigan is soooo so soft, wearing it over the same henley that was worn over the black dress. It’s such a great layering piece and is bump friendly so win/win!
These booties are so comfortable and with a 2 3/4″ heel are walkable but give me the height I want. The block heel sort of reminds me of a throwback from Bakers (minus the square toe), and they are so easy to wear if you are in the market for a comfortable heel for fall.
Caslon Drawstring Waist Pants | Trouve Rib Funnel Neck Sweater (1st photo- comes in 2 additional colors) | Lewit Marta Slingback Pump | Topshop Longline Sweatshirt (2nd photo- wearing light pink, also comes in mustard and red)
These pants are definitely not something I would have ordered online, but when I saw them in store I wondered how they’d fit– lesson learned because I LOVED how comfortable the drawstring/elastic waist was and how easily these could be dressed to go out or dressed down for lounging (showing both versions here). And bonus that I could get some non-maternity pants to wear later, too!
I dressed them up with the same white pumps and this sweatshirt that I sized up in for a super slouchy fit, I guess that’s my excited face because this outfit just got me pumped for comfy fall clothes! I dressed it down with a simple sweatshirt, it’s already a longline sweater and I sized up for an ever larger fit that I can grow into.
Topshop Longline Sweatshirt (1st photo)| Leith Henley Woven Top (2nd photo) | Ingrid and Isabel Ponte Knit Skinny Maternity Pants | Sarto by Franco Sarto Topaz Flat
Here is the topshop longline sweater again with a dressier pant and shoe option and the henley woven shirt on its own, too. I love the versatility of these pieces! Forgot to mention I sized up to a medium in the henley shirt to make sure it covered my stomach all the way (it already runs big so stay true to size for non pregnancy fit).
Topshop Long Open Front Cardi (this will definitely sell out fast!) | Leith Henley Woven Shirt | Ingrid & Isabel Ponte Knit Skinny Maternity Pants | Sarto by Franco Sarto Loafer Flats | Steve Madden Petra Open Side Bootie
Saved my favorite sweater for last! It comes in 4 colors and is such a steal (only $49.90) for this style. My favorite is the pink color but it also comes in ivory, charcoal and dark green (the dark green is so sharp)– so lots of really great color options.
As for the loafer flats I wore here, they instantly made the outfits look really polished and put together. I was on the lookout for some good comfortable shoe options and these were a big winner!
