This is the first time I’m sharing my living room (other than from a couple of my instagram photos). I figured it just made sense since this is where we spend most of our time at home. I added a couple of Thanksgiving decor updates that are just enough and totally doable even for the busiest people.
The one thing I wish I had added was a Fall themed throw pillow, so I rounded up 15 pillows that I adore at the bottom of this post! I’m also linking lots of the items I have used here, as well as giving the details on how I made the Thanksgiving print in my gallery wall.
Decorating a bar cart is one of my favorites (you can get this one here), but I have to be really careful what I put out because curious little hands love to play with everything! So, I put a small vase with birch branches, one little white pumpkin, and this metal banner that is safe (i.e. unbreakable) if you have little kids around. I got the “Give Thanks” and acorn banners from Target, but it looks like they are sold out online; you may still be able to find them in your local store.
I love how easy my mantle decorations are, I literally just stuff this Fall garland up there and hang the acorn garland with duct tape. It’s easy, simple and fast. When I saw these these flowers at Trader Joe’s I thought they were the perfect palette for Thanksgiving. They really bring the room to life!
So here’s all you’ll need to make you own Thanksgiving print, Kraft paper and a sharpie. That’s it! I really liked the saying “Thankful, Grateful, Blessed” but also considered “Gobble, Gobble” and “Give Thanks”.
Since this frame was already hanging in my gallery wall (for spring and summer time I use a pineapple print) I didn’t need a new frame. You could replace a print you already have or buy a frame if you need to (I love ikea for frames).
So if you haven’t guessed it, this print is free handed. Before you think you can’t do it just hear me out and give it a try. You can copy the way I wrote it! I don’t typically like my own handwriting but love how this faux calligraphy comes out every time! The trick to make your writing look like calligraphy is to thicken all the down strokes that you have made. It makes such a difference! I also suggest practicing your writing on a scrap piece of paper beforehand. One of the great things about this Kraft paper is that if you mess up, you have plenty more! And you can give the piece you messed up on to your kid to color! Speaking of…
This paper is perfect for so many things including coloring, and especially in a high chair (we aren’t ready to be set free with crayons just yet). It is the perfect thickness so it easily goes over the table while not ripping. Just tape the ends underneath. I used two pieces of duct tape on each side. I’m planning on using this to wrap some gifts this year for Christmas and it would make the perfect table runner for Thanksgiving and even personal placemats (oh, the possibilities!).
