My birthday happened to fall around Valentine’s Day weekend this year, so it was the perfect reason to take a quick getaway. My husband suggested The Greenbrier in West Virginia, and I was more than happy to be surrounded by the vibrant colors and design that is all things Dorothy Draper in the middle of dreary February. My husband grew up going to this resort with his family, and has since gotten me to fall in love with this place as well. It’s only 4 hours (less than 4 in some cases) from Pittsburgh and is the perfect long weekend retreat. I’ll have more on the resort later this week. Today I’m giving you my packing tips and suggestions for a weekend resort getaway!
This mesh floral peplum top (this floral printed one is from no. 14) has stunning and playful lines. It was the perfect piece to play with layering and works here in a conservative setting worn on top of a button up white blouse. This spring/summer I plan to wear it with a cami or crop bralette for a warm weather look. It also looks amazing with a pencil skirt!
Traveling to a resort with a dress code can easily turn into an over packing situation (i.e. bring alllll the dresses!). If you’re not sure what to pack for a weekend resort getaway but want to keep it light, here are my staples that are easy to mix and match. There are 10 pieces total that can be made into 7 combinations of outfits!
Mid-Rise Black Denim | Full Skirt with Print | White Button Up Shirt | Mesh Floral Peplum Top
Sweater | Black Sheath Dress | Nude Pumps | Pointed Toe Flats | Long Pearls | Tote Bag
Combinations to Wear for Day and Night (7 total outfits for 4 days):
Day 1: (As Seen Here) Black Denim + White Shirt + Peplum Top + Pumps
Evening 1: Dress + Pumps
Day 2: Black Denim + Sweater + Flats
Evening 2: White Shirt + Full Skirt + Pumps
Day 3: White Shirt worn under Dress + Sweater around waist + Flats
Evening 3: Peplum top over Dress + Pumps
Day 4 (brunch and going home): Sweater + Full Skirt + Flats
Use the tote with each outfit, and it doubles as a travel bag! A piece of jewelry like a long pearl necklace offers the versatility to be worn long or short, so it’s like two necklaces in one. Bringing a few extra accessories like a light scarf (this Ted Baker one would go perfectly with everything here!), set of earrings and handheld clutch that doubles as a wallet (this scallop edge one is under $20!) will really round it off. Happy Travels!
